Takin' Care of Business

It seems like our life is one big dictionary these days....

For months now, Harry's been into "Open" and "Closed" signs, the hours of business listed, etc. The boy can now tell you when just about any business along our road to town opens. It wears me out, to be honest, but I try to keep up. Somewhere along the way I told them the sign means they are 'open for business' and now the chant goes 'they are open for business; they are closed for business.' This morning:

Harry: Mommy, what does business mean?
Me:....buying and selling things
Jack: What's my business, what do you mean when you say 'it's not my business' or 'mind my own business'?
Me:...hmmmm....the things you say or do, how you act, what you worry about....(oh, no, I'm completely off the rails here)

I don't have a picture of their favorite cash register, which has taught them SO much about food and nutrition (Jack actually told me he needed to eat more brocolli the other day - talk is cheap, but it's a start!), but here is Harry playing with their little one from BK ohsolongago....

5 Somethings To Talk About:

So can I call your kids when I'm out and need to phone a friend to see what time a store closes? I usually call Jamie but it would be nice to have another resource available!

Yep, Harry's your man ;-)

Isn't it fascinating what they grab on to? Ryan asked me in all seriousness the other day if we have car insurance. You learn something new every day, eh?

A cash register with nutritional info? How about financial, like "you can't afford it!"

Yep, Jen, it's a grocery cash register, but I noticed it has a credit card and we added a couple of gift cards for the 'look'. It sort of horrified me this morning when I was cleaning - we do talk a lot about making financial choices, but it's time to step up our game.
