THEY'RE going out to sea

We're all missing Ocracoke, and I was finally able to upload these videos from the pirate show we got to check out this year. The first video is long and shows how goofy they are, and fair warning about the second...I can't get that song out of my head whenever I see it.

They were the only tinies in the audience, and were asked to 'help' hold the card for the audience to sing-along. Silly boys - this is their first public performance....watch out, David Cook, they're coming for your Idol trophy ;-)

Within the stories of pirate life, they let the audience practice with the halyard while singing this shanty (they are going nowhere fast LOL):

So, we were prepping for vacation and Jack's greatest joy? Getting to mop 'for the VERY first time, I'm so excited!' We call it 'swabbing the deck' to get in the pirate-y mode, but hopefully his future wife will thank me ;-) And I'm on vacation, so I can be lazy, right? We're missing friends something fierce, already, and when they saw this picture of fun with Grayson the other day, they thought it had to go on this post - Jack's chatter last nite was filled with all the names of all the friends we left behind....we miss you all!

We Are Family (Grandparents' Day aftermath)

Yesterday was Grandparents' Day at the boys' school. We parents weren't invited :sniff: but my mom did get some great pix and video that I hope to copy soon. The boys were surprised to see TWO sets of grandparents in the audience, and it looked completely sweet as they sang, danced, pledged and basically were adorable. The preschool staff did an awesome job, but I still hope we parents will get to be the audience soon ;-)

My parents had to get back home early, but Dean's got to stay and play with the boys.

Sesame Street started our day off in robot mode and both boys got a pretty good impersonation - not that you can tell by this picture which shows my two favorite Pirate Robot Cowboys hanging out.

Somehow we ended up at a restaurant that has Bingo Thursdays, and the boys did really well - a friend found a bingo card maker that I'm going to check out

Another Friday night in the life of a country boy (X2)

Dean came home, and all was right in our little world. The boys had a chance to play pirates and talk with Uncle Les on the phone before heading off to bed. I noticed that Harry's arm framed the picture we took of them in their Grandma's work t-shirts (they do a post of all family members) when they were about a month old....sniff. And that's an authentic late-1960's lava lamp in the bottom corner


Jack was finally able to keep that ridiculous inflatable parrot on his shoulder :-) They do love 'em some pirate adventures with Daddy!

Let's Go Bowling!

Well, I think that Jack's idea for a

Pirate Bowling Birthday Party was a big success!

Thanx to everyone who made it such a great time ~ the adventurous kids and all the moms and dads and friends who pitched in with food delivery and ball maintenance - I don't think we had any major mishaps, but I wasn't sure the floor would survive all those dropped balls ;-)

The LOOT was amazing, and the boys are still wading thru all the goods!

J&S came over for a pool party, and the kids did some of the pirate activities we'll be having at their party on Saturday...not a huge hit today, so let's hope more kids are feeling pirate-y on Saturday ;-)

Just can't seem to get it together these past few days to post - lots of good stuff is happening, so stay tuned!

Four is treating us all well, so far. The boys are having a grand time doing all sorts of 'big boy' things - they are sleeping in twin beds at the hotel, Jack took a shower and shampooed himself today. Babies no more...sniff!

We're all practicing our best pirate stuff - their favorite recent thing is "Cheers, me hearties!" so brace yourself for lifting your cups (of milk, of course) ;-)
