There are no fish left in the streams

The boys finally had their uniforms ready for tonite's Minnow Races. They were a little bit excited, starting with Harry modeling his duds.
They have been practicing their salute, motto, handshake and other scouting tricks for their first badges

We grabbed a pizza and met another cub and his family. Harry had a great time working on his latest PuzzleMania

After a brief awards ceremony to pass out summer and initial fall awards, the boys got down to racing their fish. Harry and his old bud, David, both had fast fish!

Jack won a few and lost a few. His attempt to bend his straw to box the minnow in didn't work very well, but he had a great time, anyway.

He also tried approaching it from high but could not make that fish GO

They got to bring them home, and we'll see how long they survive

Imagine having this as your backyard ~ Uncle Les invited us all over for a wonderful day of fishing and playing at the lake. Grandma was good enough to share her pix :)

They both did well, and Jack actually caught two large mouth bass!

Our Mother's Day tradition took a new spin this year, in addition to Saturday shopping with Daddy, the boys went fishing with their new rods! They were beyond excited, since they'd gotten a taste of it on Thursday, tho their attention spans are still not quite up for the full experience....they had the full-on wormguts experience and consider themselves fishermen now, so we shall see....

They give me Saturday for all things girlie, so I game myself a mani/pedi, watched a chick flick, visited all my babies, and read a chick book. Complete relaxation and my ears were so happy all day long ;-) They were the best hugs ever, tho, once everyone got back home

Today was all about treats, of the family variety - they let me sleep in before presenting me with beautiful roses, both cut and ready for planting, a lovely windchime, and cards galore. The gifts and the sentiments were all loved! The boys were really on their best behavior all day :-)

After getting the house ready for people who cancelled (grrr), we headed out to the restaurant we found last Thursday - the day was perfect, about 75 degrees, wispy clouds and a gentle breeze, just perfect for outdoor dining! This was our view of the train and river
