It's a sweet life living by the salty sea

Frolicking by the waves - we lucked out with a beautiful day. While this is the most crowded 'our' beach has ever been, the pix remind me how lucky we are to have such a gorgeous place to play!

but still we remain, side by side

The boys really did step up their game for the wedding last weekend.....I interrupted them while they were checking to see what the rain was doing to the cows and horses at their grandparents' house before leaving....

and Harry tried his best smile before realizing....

that goofy sad faces might be the way to go!
Jack was in a playful mood all afternoon, but Harry wasn't falling for most of his tricks.

They posed a lot that day

and waited pretty patiently.

Not sure if it was the attire or the setting, but I kept thinking I should start a file of pix for any future presidency runs ;-) They stuck together through thick and thin.....

...even during the tough times!

The sun will shine

My bonus nephew got married last weekend at Santillane, a historic bed and breakfast near Roanoke, Virginia. Despite a soggy beginning, the rain cleared and it was beautiful.

There were drenched family poses

Lazing on a sunny afternoon

Somehow we ended up with three lazy-minded people in a house, waiting on a repair man....not a bad way to start the summer...
why, yes, those are his feet hitting the foot rest of the recliner...and, yes, that is the same one pictured to his left, wherein you cannot see either of the arms of the chair despite the fact that two little ones are sitting comfortably.....:sniff:

Not exactly sure if this smile is as pure as he'd like me to believe, or he's planning some boyish prank. Betting on the latter ;-)

I'll be there to raise you or to roost you

As an only child, I constantly marvel at the relationship ups and downs of these two. I pray that they will be there to raise or roost - these smiles give me hope!

Write About Love

The boys have been making use of the chalkboard in the kitchen, and it sure is a nice way to start a day....here they are posing, sweet and silly, with a note for Dean when he was traveling.

You know we'll have a good time then

Guess who is on vacation for a couple of days?! Yay for lazy afternoons, growing boys, and loving dads...oh, and fountains!
They aren't *really* this tall, but it does remind me to cherish every moment because it slips away so quickly
We're usually in Ocracoke this week, and I always get a picture of them walking in the village...not quite the same, but it's sweet and Earl-free. We're hoping he is kind to our beloved pirate island!
Harry loves a fountain!

Remember when pix were rare - I wonder if there will still be special shots for them like there were for me growing up....this one will probably make my mom cry because my Gramma had almost the same shot of me when I was a tiny and just learning to talk.
It had a magical quality for me, probably like this afternoon may have for them. We don't usually get lucky enough to have the four of us with nothing much to do but play - thanx, babe!

Should've Been A Cowboy

Their friend Summit hung out with us today - it was fun at the movies, fun at home, fun in trees, fun with hose, fun in cars.

Boys can turn anything into cowboy lessons ;)

since people keep telling me how much they've grown, I thought comparing them to last year would be good...I'd say a solid few inches Grayson, Harry and Jack - July 2009

I got caught up in nostalgia and realized this was a familiar pose -
today (6 1/2 years) above and October 06 (2 1/2 years old)
