Who's That Lady?

My sSis just shared some more pix from the wedding we attended last month, and I couldn't resist nabbing this on of Harry dancing with one of the bridesmaids...if you've known him long, you can see that he's lowering his age requirements ;-) The Boy is a serious flirt! We first noticed it during our beach trip when he was just over a year; we were a little worried because he kept blinking rapidly at random times - then we noticed that he was trying to wink at all the older ladies passing by! For about a year, if you had gray hair or looked like you might appreciate the attention, he was yours for the wink....over the years, he has refined his interests and gotten closer to his own age range, but it gives me hope that it won't be just a pretty face that strikes his fancy :-)

He did try to put the school guidance counselor under his spell during the Kindergarten (yes, you read that right!) tour yesterday - a true wink, she blushed and said it made her day!

It feels so good to have reached this milestone - they are excited and so am I :-)

There's something women like about a pickup man

My boys are flirts, it's true, but Harry upped his game over the weekend. We were at one of our favorite restaurants, where the children of the owner often visit with us and share some of the waitressing chores. The 10-year-old lovely gets this line from Harry: "I'm gonna grow up to be a man and you'll grow up to be a lady" with these big flirty eyes and right up in her grill. His dad egged him on a bit, and he ended up asking her to go out with him ::-) My days are limited :sigh:

Here he is just after winking at the photographer during our recent photo session - sheesh! Our first trip to the beach when they were about 15 months was the first sign of his serious flirt with older ladies - anyone with white hair received major eyelash flutters. He used to really gravitate toward any lady in the room who seemed to be a wallflower, you know the type who might not typically get attention - he always zeroed in on them while Jack went for the more obvious. I guess a 10-year-old isn't exactly ancient, but he has always had a thing for the older lady!

They are both brushing up on their manly manners, and Jack was overheard in the bathroom tonite telling me that I should go first "because I know ladies always go first"....the woman beside us started chuckling and would probably have gone on a date with him, if he'd asked ;-)

Do You Remember Rock'n'Roll Radio?

We went to the movies and lunch with our friends Zach and Ms Christina today - I couldn't get a good picture to capture the fun - it's hard to get three boys in the same picture-taking mode at the same time! (and I seriously have to replace the broken phone camera)

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

Jack found a new use for GORP today - while waiting for lunch, he 'planted' the sunflower seeds under soil (raisin) and used a watering can (almond) to give it "Clean, fresh water"

It's so cool when they learn things at school and bring them home. They've both been all about the "clean (or cool, depending on the moment) fresh water" since VBS, where they talked a lot about nature and contributed to a water project. We've been planting a lot lately, and they are really enjoying taking care of our flowers and plants. Mother Nature has been kind and given us a lot of rain recently.

This is just a shot of Harry winking at me today at lunch - thought it might make you smile :-)

Some recent funnies:

6/30 Jack "Do you spell Jake with a G?" They have been into spelling again lately, and now think it's HI-larious to twist the letters. Harry promptly followed with "Do you spell Sarah with a C?" We all miss our buddies!

7/4 Harry: "Mommy, when can we go to America's birthday party?" "I SURE do!" and "It SURE is!" (he alternately pronounces it shyer or shore, depending on his mood - poor boy, caught between a yankee and a southerner!) and two recent favorites: "But, Mommmmmm" and "NO!" ....grrrrr....
