To Say Merry Christmas To You

The boys' school had their Winter Program tonite, filled with catchy tunes and a lot of wonderful story about celebrating the holiday despite snow storms that disable the power.  Harry's class were the line workers, and Jack's were carolers complete with ukuleles.  Their music teacher always writes the most creative music and scripts for the kids.  Cuteness abounded.

thanx for the hat and the sweet delivery system!

Destination IMAGINATION

Harry liked his first turn at blogging so much that he's asked for another go - this time he wants to tell you all about Destination Imagination.

Jack and I are in Mommy and Mrs. C's after-school Destination ImagiNation science, and we make scripts. We always eat snacks, and sometimes we laugh at each other. Jack has a part, I have a part, Erin has a part, Gina has a part, Kaitlyn has a part, Isaiah has a part, and Rashmi is the narrator. But we can't decide who's going to make their parts first because they all want to make them. Sometimes we argue, and sometimes Mrs. C. says "guys, guys, time-out" and sometimes Mommy says "shhh, Jack" when he's interrupting us, and that always distracts me. One by one, we make more parts and every time when we get home, sometimes we make new scripts. We will make some costumes for the play so that people can figure out who we are and what real bugs look like. I am a bedbug, Jack is a tarantula brother, Isaiah's a tarantula brother, Gina is a popcorn lady - gee, she makes good popcorn and I think I could eat all of her popcorn in her popcorn machine! - Erin is a black widow, Kaitlyn is a dog, and Rashmi is our narrator. One day Erin wanted to go to a party, but Gina said no and I said 'I wasn't invited either.' I'm a bedbug and she said 'no bedbugs allowed!' Isaiah said 'we weren't invited either, she said no bad bugs or spiders'. We went to the fair instead, and we had fun. We always love DI, and I love it because it's my favorite thing of my life. The End.
Here are some of my favorite pictures from DI so far - this is all of us trying to show our feelings - we were trying to show 'sad' faces, like how we'd feel if we weren't invited to a party.

This is a picture of me working with my teammates in the back and Jack working with his teammates in the front of the picture. We were making up skits with our bug puppets.
Over and out,
Harry

I'll do funny things if you want me to, I'm your puppet

The Enrichment teacher did a puppet presentation today at the boys' school - Harry gave a great answer to one of her questions, and Jack got to act out the part of narrator during a little play about school conduct. It was a lot of fun to get to see each of the grades, and the bonus was getting to see the marionette scene for The Sound of Music 6 times ;-) Jack wants to learn to yodel now, and I think I'm watching the movie again tomorrow since I'm craving a little musical happy!

Harry had his long-time pal Trevor over for a playdate today, and they found that they both have a passion for percussion - they were good enough that I didn't even mind the noise ;-)

Can you tell that they are totally jamming here? So sweet - thanx for sharing him, N!

It take a joyful sound

...to say thank you and goodbye to preschool. Last nite was the boys' preschool year-end program, full of a little pomp and circumstance, songs, prayers, a video montage of the year, etc.
They helped choose the pix included here, so please bear with it ;-)

This is the moment Jack heard his dad calling his name
(Jack, Joe, Asher, Harry and Same getting ready to perform)
And have I mentioned how much Harry loves his name? He would laugh with glee when I would sing-song it when he was a baby, now he just gets this face when his dad calls him

Here they are performing
Get Up, Get Up
Tell it!
Some people haven't heard
Everybody's talking about power!
Harry is very serious about the words and movements for You're Holy
Synchronized swimming may be out....whew!
It was a LONG nite for sleepy boys!
I took video of the diploma presentations and am trying to figure out a way to cut them down to post them...hopefully soon. Jack said he wanted to be a sailor, motorboats, pirate ships, anything that floats as long as he's Captain Jack. Harry said he will be a Man, which got a nice round of applause...they settled on him owning a Jeep dealership at Ocracoke beach ;-)
Aunt Jackie came to watch them, and even brought cards with gift certificates for books - Jack and Daddy were reading all about it

Harry reading his card with Aunt Jackie

Jack was SO proud!

They love Aunt Jackie, and I think the feeling's mutual
(sorry, J, but the insisted that I put this one in)

Their teachers collected work samples thru the year, and Harry was proudly explaining his Friendship Star Quilt
They were both thrilled to look back over their work, and they've read their own and each other's books a few times today (thank you for all your efforts, teachers!)

Show us what love's about

The boys had their Christmas Show tonite at school, and it was sooo-weet! There were no tears, no one got sick and everyone participated - great job, kids and teachers ;-)

The kids' Santa wishes were made into these cute trees
and here are the dreams of our two:

Harry heading to the stage
and waving to us
and...does it look like "you wanna piece of this?!"
Jack signing (and yelling) I love you, Mommy...oh, that boy has my number
Harry ditched the hat and busted a move

Jack did his share, but my angle wasn't good :-(

(no, it's not some weird cult, I just don't have permission to post the other kids' pix) but what is cuter than 30 kids holding hands and singing the Lord's Prayer?
Jack catching a fistbump from Uncle Les My friend Jackie and Dean's brother Les made LONG treks to share in the boys' big nite - thank you both so much!
The obligatory family pose
and Harry getting ready to go airborneIt was sweet and funny and perfectly wonderful :-)
