I thank my lucky stars

Jack: We're the luckiest people in the world!

Yeah, he was just reacting with great glee that there was a new Rescue Heroes episode being
taped, but he was right - a really lovely relaxing day at the beginning of summer is hard to beat!

I've been going thru old blog posts, trying to clean up some of the labels, and it makes my heart smile to see the life we've been given and what we're making of it so far....lucky, indeed!

These days

Today is Sesame Street's 39th birthday! Did you grow up with SSt? What's your favorite character or memory or lesson? It has definitely occupied a place of honor at our house, mostly because of Elmo at first, but now they love it all.

Tomorrow is Veteran's Day - please do what you can to honor those who honor us with their service. I really don't have the words to thank all of you military families enough, but please know your sacrifices do not go unappreciated.


In honor of their service, Applebee's is giving veterans and active duty military free food tomorrow. I'm sure there are other treats out there, but I just saw the commercial and wanted to pass it along - if anyone has other info, please post in the comments section :-)

Somehow this song became a part of the boys' growing up, you know....



the boy, the boy, the boy is really walking!
the poop, the poop, the poop is in the potty!
and the list goes on....

So, Dean and I are in another room and overhear the boys talking during their bath. They are playing with their toy sharks and Jack is singing: "the shark, the shark, the shark is on fiiiyyaahh!" in a perfect voice despite never hearing anything other than his dad and my lame attempts. Dean looked at me and I looked at him, we smiled and it was nice.




As Harry just noted, we had "a good, relaxing day!" that looked like this....

Science Fiction, Double Feature

Between preschool and a new show to our area, Sid The Science Kid, it's pretty exploratory at our house these days. A mom friend at preschool was just talking about how her son is also playing with all sorts of older toys in new ways, and it's happening here all the time, too. They've been a lot more into designing with their trains lately, creating more imaginative scenarios with their animals and pirates, etc. It's pretty fun!

I found them both digging into their bug kits this morning (a combination of gifts from Sam, Aunt Jackie, and possibly Amberger?)

The boys love Word World, a cute little half-hour show on PBS. The characters' voices are pretty grating, but it has really increased their reading!
