an embarrassment of riches - Spin Cycle 4

So, I've been avoiding laundry, well, actually just The Spin Cycle ;-) I've tried to find pix or songs that really worked for the last two with little luck, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to post them in the Things People Say section below - TIA!

When I first read the topic 'embarrassment' I wondered if I was just getting so old that things don't bother me as much as they used to, I was just in total denial, or what?! There are too many examples of clutsy movements, goofy moments, inappropriate comments that have flown from my mouth before I could catch them, etc. I don't have the gift of lovely words or great storytelling that my fellow Cyclers do, so I'll just put this spin on it:

I have an embarrassment of riches: an overabundance, an overwhelmingly excessive amount of luck and love in my life. Don't get me wrong, there have been tremendous challenges faced and every moment is not joyful, but all in all my life has been enriched by loving family and friends to a degree that amazes me. So many times the wheels could have come off this wagon, but there are always resources, internal or external, that put it aright. I know I should not feel embarrassed by the gifts I've received, the work that I have done, or the loving support network on which I can rely, but the EofR phrase makes sense to me, and for that I am grateful.

And if you made it this far, a funny for your patience: We were sitting in a church pew for the first time when the boys were about 3. All the children were invited to come forward for the children's portion of the service, and they eagerly jumped on the chance to move. A very sweet lady started the lesson by asking "Where does fruit come from?" and my Jack enthusiastically pipes up "Chick-fil-A!" (a Southern fast-food restaurant that does, in fact, serve fruit). I turned several shades of red amid the surprised chuckles then realized that at the very least the CFA people would like his little spin ;-)

Here's wishing you all an overabundance of the good things in life - thanx to all who make our lives so rich!

Love this spin! Thank you so much for writing this when most people feel like they need to show the world just how hard they have it. To know that you are truly blessed is not embarrassing, but I love the way you spun it. You're linked!

Great take on the topic. I too am often embarrassed by the number of blessings in my life, but I am more embarrassed at how easily I forget it.

Fruit DOES come from Chick Fil-A. Love the place, good food and they have some healthy options for kids so the grown ups can eat crap while the kids eat healthy! I actually worked there for 4 years in HS and got a scholarship from them.

Nice story, thanks for sharing!
