I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

Jack found a new use for GORP today - while waiting for lunch, he 'planted' the sunflower seeds under soil (raisin) and used a watering can (almond) to give it "Clean, fresh water"

It's so cool when they learn things at school and bring them home. They've both been all about the "clean (or cool, depending on the moment) fresh water" since VBS, where they talked a lot about nature and contributed to a water project. We've been planting a lot lately, and they are really enjoying taking care of our flowers and plants. Mother Nature has been kind and given us a lot of rain recently.

This is just a shot of Harry winking at me today at lunch - thought it might make you smile :-)

Some recent funnies:

6/30 Jack "Do you spell Jake with a G?" They have been into spelling again lately, and now think it's HI-larious to twist the letters. Harry promptly followed with "Do you spell Sarah with a C?" We all miss our buddies!

7/4 Harry: "Mommy, when can we go to America's birthday party?" "I SURE do!" and "It SURE is!" (he alternately pronounces it shyer or shore, depending on his mood - poor boy, caught between a yankee and a southerner!) and two recent favorites: "But, Mommmmmm" and "NO!" ....grrrrr....

Simple Pleasures

Saturday was a continuation of all things Americana (I need to post an adorable rendition of Happy Birthday, America! when I have hi-speed). We ran a few errands and the boys got to visit one of their favorite water fountains - the cell does not capture the joy, and it lost a lot in posting, but I remember <3
We went to a country festival, and the boys had a lot of fun doing crafts, playing games and making music, sliding and petting the animals. Jack even created the cutest ugly tomato you ever did see!

Scratch, scratch, scratch.... scratch, scratch, scratch

Fingers Taylor and Billy Joel have nothin' on Jack ;-)
Giggle Bells, Giggle Bells, Giggle All The Way!
Now boarding, The Monster Slide
Exsqueeze Me? (I know there must be a funny llama song but I'm too tired to look)

Jack asks: Would you eat this tomato?!?

Let's All Go To The Lobby - Part II

It's a bad cell phone picture, but I was so proud of them for taking care of their own snacks at the movie last week! It's amazing to me what a few months can do in terms of independence these days - yippee!

Used Cars

It was awfully quiet this morning, you know the quiet that can end up really cute or means big trouble....well, this is what I found, as narrated by Harry:

Me, in the bathroom, I mean at the car store!
Jack saying "Excuse me, sir, can I help you?"

"You want a toy or a nice boat or a nice ducky?"

"I think I'll like this one"

(insert that scan beeping sound as Jack rings up Harry's purchase)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Just Watch The Fireworks

I actually got some decent pictures of the fireworks and thought I'd share - Happy Fourth!

Yankee Doodle Dandies

Happy Birthday, America!

These first shots are from our annual boys-waving-flags-in-the-chair adventure - you can see the original, when they were 3 1/2 months old, in the slideshow to the right....I'm hoping they can squeeze into this chair for a few more years :sniff sniff:

Happy Doodles

Signs of future teen rebellion? :sigh:

This one just cracked me up - poor Jack was tired!
We went to our town's Fourth celebration, and it was pretty fun. This is the first year I've been courageous enough to brave the shuttle and all the late-evening festivities, but it went really well. There were lots of rides, good music and food, friends and neighbors, and the big, bright booms at the end of the nite. Hope your holiday was filled with things you love!

And this is my favorite - my guys watching the finale from the bus (the rain started right before the end of the show)

Warm Your HeART

The boys were quite crafty during last week's VBS, and I tried to get a picture of their bags of art - they did a ton of cool projects. The theme was Rainforest Adventures

They made these little frogs out of Aquapod bottles

Behind The Clouds

We're big into watching the clouds lately, and I thought this one was really cool....what do you see? Put your interpretation in comments section by clicking on the 'Post a Comment' link below

Time Well Wasted

How's this for looking like a pro?
A pensive moment for Jack

Daddy getting Jack set up....

a few last words of advice...

He swings, he hits!

Harry gets some advice (I missed the money shot :-( )

I just loved this picture, something about those long shadows on the field

And this one of Harry choosing his bat, I don't think I posted it before but really like it for some reason?

Make New Friends, But Keep The Old

It's funny to think of much at this stage as 'old,' but the boys have known their friend Sam for more than half their lives! They play on different teams, but the schedules finally worked that they were on neighboring fields the other nite and got to play around a bit.

Sam and Jack goofing aroundSam, Jack and Harry posing

Sam and Jack goofing around (sense a theme?)

It really is a small world, I was pulling into the grocery parking lot and thought 'hey, that guy looks familiar but I can't remember where' and Sam's dad was thinking the same thing. We'd both worked for the same school system a few hours away many years before. We noticed the boys were similar ages, so I recommended the play group ... his wife brought Sam and the rest is history. Lucky timing for us all!

Don't Make Me Come Over There and Love You

Of course, George Straight had a different intent altogether ;-) but between the 'don't make me' and the expression on Harry's face, it seemed as appropriate as the military song!

over there!

Happy July 4th week!
