We love books, and I ran across these old and well-loved books the other day. I've read posts on mom websites about how people feel about kids reading (aka ripping, chewing, getting them ewwy) books early - there were only a few books that we delayed letting them have. They learned early that 'books are our friends' but still I highly recommend investing in some good mailing tape for repairing the most beloved.
Here are some of their favorites that have stood the test of time...
I Love You All The Time - great beginning story about a bear who is loved in all sorts of situations. The pix are nicely detailed, and I have so many wonderful memories of introducing them to reading with this book.

1001 Words - I got this book while working in the schools and used it to get an idea of kids' vocabulary back when. Man, Harry particularly loved this book. It had good groups of objects, activities and social relationships that we were able to expand really easily. We have two tiny board books by the same author that they still enjoy - Faces and Weather.

The Napping House is another favorite that's taped to within an inch of its bindings - it's a fun stacking type book with wonderfully detailed illustrations. This is one of my favorite pages:
There is a child, a dreaming child, on a snoring granny, on a cozy bed, in a napping house, where everyone is sleeping.

I Love You, Stinky Face is one of their latest favorites - it's a really sweet little book about a boy with a huge imagination whose mom reassures him that she will love him no matter what. There are a few versions, like Merry Christmas, Stinky Face. Great read if your son has any fears or worries, or if you're just looking for an excuse to snuggle ;-)
